Woman orders 'worst takeaway of all time' as people say it tastes like 'rubber and sand'

We all have our favourite when it's time to indulge in a takeaway treat.

From Chinese and Indian feasts, to a classic pizza, cheeky chippy meal or a kebab, the nation's taste buds definitely vary and there is no shortage of choice. But one British woman has been called out by her friend over her odd food decision – and was subsequently shamed on X for what's been branded the "worst" meal in takeaway history.

"My friend has just ordered possibly the worst takeaway order of all time? I am aghast," groaned her disgruntled pal. While grated cheese, gravy or tomato ketchup are usual favourites to slather on chips, this peckish Brit went left-field with a somewhat peculiar choice.

The post included a snap displaying the woman's chips scattered with a handful of chopped olives. The addition was so unusual, the corresponding tweet went viral, racking up more than 13million views. Following up to his post, the X user clarified: "Said friend is vegan which might add necessary context to lack of cheese and limited dressing options."

Yet this info couldn't shake off his initial revulsion, as he continued: "This fact doesn't stop me from imagining the texture of rubber and sand that it would have."

Scores of X media users were quick to share their horror, as one wrote: "I love olives and I love chips but what is this?" Another said: "It's times like these that friendships are tested but I urge you to stand strong and help them see the light."

Meanwhile a third chimed in: "I want to spew. 1. Olives are on precious fries. 2. There is no binder (cheese, etc.) so no way to keep the nasty olives on the fries." Whilst a fourth person full of condemnation lambasted: "This is the worst thing I have ever seen. Brits have the worst palates in the world."

Later, the woman responsible for the flavour fusion explained her post-night-out culinary choice: "Just wait until you find out I doused it in hot sauce when I got home," she responded in the comments section.

Amid the uproar, one commenter found a silver lining, however, admitting they didn't mind the combination. They wrote: "I love potatoes. I love olives. What's not to like? Sure this may be intense and salty and briny, but this seems like a fairly enjoyable snack, no? Maybe the olives would be more acceptable in the form of a tapenade, but this is Okay. You leave your friend alone!"
